James McCormick


Capt. James McCormick, USA (ret.) directs Veterans’ advocacy programs for AIDC. During his 22-year career in the United States Army, which included Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Capt. McCormick earned numerous awards, including the Silver Star, 3 Bronze Stars with Valor, and 3 Purple Hearts. Capt. McCormick has also received multiple civilian accolades for his work with Veterans.

James began his advocacy career in 2009 after launching Raising Cane Farms, Inc. where he assists Veterans and their families in agriculture job training and therapy. He was instrumental in writing legislation and building support networks around multiple state and federal initiatives, including the country’s first state-supported “Veterans to Agriculture” program, a Gold Star family recognition program, and a national Purple Heart Recognition Day. Capt. McCormick’s tireless work for Veterans was recognized by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin (D-WV) through his appointment as chairman of the state’s Veterans Coalition.
